VSDCA - Craig Shield


The J.G. Craig Shield (often referred to as the Craig Shield) is recognized as the premier Under-15 turf cricket competition in Victoria, Australia. Managed by the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA), it serves as a crucial development pathway for the state's most talented young cricketers.

The most recent tournament concluded in February 2026, where Brunswick Cricket Club claimed the 2026 J.G. Craig Shield premiership after defeating Oakleigh Cricket Club in the grand final.


Competition Overview

  • The Format: A high-intensity junior carnival held annually in January.
  • Teams: All 32 VSDCA clubs field a representative squad, drawing top junior talent from across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
  • Structure: Teams are divided into four regional groups (North, South, East, and West). The top teams from each division progress to knockout quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a grand final.
  • Eligibility: Players must be aged 13 or 14 years old as of September 1 preceding the tournament.


2026/27 Select Trials

If you are looking to get involved or try out for the upcoming summer iteration, registrations of interest and player trials traditionally open in May and conclude by early June.
