Hello Club Members,

I hope you are enjoying your off-season. I am keen to provide a couple of off-field updates as we plan for next season. We are looking for some new sponsors to partner with the Club and we have also established a new Future Fund to support our ongoing care and investment into our wonderful new facilities - more info on both of these opportunities is below.

But before that, it is my absolute pleasure to inform you that one of our Club stalwarts - Stephen Golding (Goldy) - was inducted as a VSDCA Life Member at the RM Hatch Awards night last Thursday. This is a great honour for Goldy and the Club. There are fewer than 100 life members of the VSDCA, a competition that has 32 Clubs and has been around for 118 years.

Goldy’s CV is outstanding! Having joined the Club as a junior, he commenced playing senior VSDCA cricket in 1998, and his achievements since then have been enormous:

• 345 senior matches
• Four time premiership player
• Eight seasons as 3rd XI captain, including one premiership as captain
• 5,800+ runs, third all-time for the Club and highest among 3rd XI players
• Served on Committee since 2004 - 22 years continuous service
• Club Secretary for 17 years
• VP Operations for 4 years
• VSDCA Delegate for 4 years
• Council Liaison Officer for 10 years
• Junior Coach for 2 years 
• 
  

As Secretary and VP Operations he has contributed to the rapid expansion of our Club over the last 20 years. Helping us transform from a just another senior turf Club with some junior teams, into the second largest Club in Victoria and one of the largest in the country.

Goldy is a role model for a Club volunteer administrator and a wonderful example of personal commitment to making their Club and the competition they play in better.

Congratulations Goldy. We are incredibly proud of you and to count you as a teammate and fellow Club member.

 BEYOND THE BUILD? OUR NEW FUTURE FUND

We were excited to open our new facilites at Mount Waverley Reserve last season and many of you have had the chance to to experience them on the field, in the training nets or cheering on from the social rooms. A few lucky people have even got to score from the best scorers box in local sport!
With a big new building comes more maintenance and opportunities for enhancement and we want to make sure we keep investing in these facilities to build and sustain excellence at the Club.

So we are launching our new Future Fund, which is a way for members to contribute to a fund that will be used to continue to enhance these assets, including additional furnishings and fit-out, improving player amenities, upgrades and future replacement of our electronic scoreboard and many other potential projects.

Any donations to this fund will be tax deductible and can be made via our official Australian Sports Foundation website.
We welcome donations of any size - every dollar is helping further strengthen our Clubs future!
